Virtual Yarns Knitwear - Alice Starmore

Our handmade ceramic buttons really come to life when adorning knitwear and we are always so delighted to see our buttons stitched on to Alice Starmore's hand-knitted creations. 

Virtual Yarns is a small independent family business based on the Isle of Lewis in the Hebrides, set up by Alice Starmore a renowned knitwear designer and run with her daughter Jade Starmore. 

The mother daughter due produce hand-knitting kits featuring wonderfully original designs for those passionate about traditional knitting techniques. They also sell luxury pure wool yarns which reflect the shades of the Hebridean landscape and a wide selection of Alice Starmore’s knitting books.  You can even take part in online courses which look at techniques and projects to develop your knitting skills

The combination of the soft intricately knitted wool and our tactile terracotta buttons is a match made in heaven! We've worked closely with Jade Starmore to produce and develope just the right buttons for each of their chosen designs. 

Buttons from our Heritage Range have been a popular choice for Starmore’s knitwear photoshoots. We've also supplied nautical boat buttons for their 'Breton' jumper and gorgeous fern buttons to match the rich Autum shades of their 'Queen Anne’s Lace' cardigan.
